Abundance
Midsummer, Litha, Summer Solstice, the Longest Day - whatever you like to call it, this is the day where the sun is at the peak of its power and shines for the longest length of time. Many things are abundant at Midsummer - light, growth, pattern, colour - all the things that make this vessel sing.

All at Sea
This boat-shaped vessel is both a literal interpretation of sea-sprayed vessels entering my local port, and a metaphorical message about the nature of feeling 'lost in the vastness of things'.

Imbolc - Bud & Blossom
Part of an ongoing series based on the Pagan Wheel of the Year.

Approx dimensions: 24cmW x 16cmD x 7cmH
Price: £185 (+p&p)
Please contact me if you are interested in this piece. There is a prototype version of this vessel available at Gigglewick Gallery for £120.

Abalone
Delicate, teardrop-shaped vessels, inspired by Abalone (or Ormer) shells. In several indigenous cultures including Maori, Aboriginal and some Native American tribes, Abalone shells are sacred symbols of protection.
The small 'candle eggs' can be used with electric tealights.

Beltane - Firedance
A glowing ode to the Pagan Fire Festival of Beltane, which marks the start of summer. Beltane roughly translates from Gaelic as 'bright fire'. Mark-making in midnight-hued glass powders allows the fiery colours beneath to shine through.
Approx dimensions: 12cmW x 7cmH
Price: £85 (+p&p) - one available

Beltane - Between the Veil
Large, rounded bowl celebrating the Pagan Fire Festival of Beltane, which marks the start of summer. Some believe that the veil between the worlds is thinnest at Beltane, allowing contact with nature spirits and folk in the 'other realm'. Mark-making in midnight-hued glass powders allows just a glimpse off the bonfire flames to shine beneath.

Where the Leys Lie
Ley Lines are straight paths that cut across our landscape, aligning ancient sites such as standing stones, churches as barrows. It is likely that aligning features helped with planning trade or religious routes, but many people believe that Leys also represent paths of energy, connecting centres of magical power.

Bloom I
Large rounded vessel inspired by my dip into Chine Colle printmaking. This is a celebration of Spring - the riot of colour from buried bulbs and awakened shrubs that dissolves away those final days of winter.
Approx dimensions: 30cmW x 10cmH
Price: £190 (+p&p)

First Frost
Rounded vessel exploring the change from autumn to winter, and perceptions of frost. Opposing marks and colours on the two sides of the vessel scatter light in dots and shards. This is the good bit of the cold season, when the disk is velvet blue and flecked with the twinkle of lights, and the mornings are crisp and sharp.

The Healers Kitchen
In the Middle Ages, Healers (usually women), used their knowledge of local flora and fauna to make remedies to heal the sick and promote fertility, luck and strength. Most of our medicines today are derived from plants, cementing that ancient healing knowledge.
This piece evoked the colours and textures of the woodland floor.

Imbolc - Tilling the Fields
Imbolc falls between Yule (Winter Solstice) and Ostara (Spring Equinox) in the Pagan Wheel of the Year. Spring is in the air and farmers and gardeners start preparing the ground for planting. Arable farming has been part of South Downs life for hundreds of years and these vessels aimed to capture the colours and textures in the landscapes.

Litha - Lavender
Litha in the Pagan Wheel of the Year, is Midsummer Night - the time around Summer Solstice when the fae folk enter our world to give blessings and thanks for the summer abundance of plants, fruit and vegetables. The smell of lavender and flora is thick and heady.
In Sussex, Litha is celebrated with Morris Dancing and torchlight. Cissbury and Chanctonbury Rings are particularly associated with Midsummer Fae Folk.

The Space Between the Stars
This irregular-shaped vessel alludes to 'the space between' - the hazy, multicoloured ribbon of night sky where the glare of jewel-like winter streetlights stops and the stars begin.

Fall, leaves, fall
My response to Emily Bronte's poem:
Fall, leaves, fall; flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night's decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

Rowan
Steeped in folklore, Rowan is variously seen as protective against witchcraft, protective of the spirits of the dead, as a forecaster of harsh winters and as a portal between worlds. Bright red-orange berries appear on Rowan trees as summer transitions into autumn. Since ancient times, almost all parts of the Rowan have been used in healing.
